GPA Safety Standards

International Safety Standards
GPA® riding helmets meet or exceed ASTM & SEI safety standards for North America.
GPA® Specific Standards
GPA® helmets offer a unique technical feature in the creation of 3 outer shell sizes and 6 liner sizes to ensure the helmet's best retention and a level of comfort for each head size. Throughout product development, GPA® invested greatly in research and development to ensure they chose the best materials and manufacturers. Relying on quality brands known for their performance guarantees that GPA® products are based on the highest level of research and cutting-edge technology.
GPA®-initiated safety requirements are extremely demanding. The results of the helmet tests listed below are, "on average, 20% higher than the results recommended by the standard." In addition, GPA® helmets also undergo private testing "carried out by leading Italian laboratories to ensure your optimum safety."
GPA Approval Tests
Round Anvil Test
In order to limit the risks associated with head trauma, GPA® helmets are given the round anvil test to verify even distribution of the shockwave that can occur as a result of a fall. This valuable test ensures the "helmet's outer shell absorbs and distributes the impact of the shockwave around the inner lining of the helmet."
Pointed Anvil Test
The objective of the pointed anvil test is to verify that a sharp object will not pierce the helmet. The results of this test prove the helmet's maximum "resistance thanks to the use of highly resistant materials (e.g. carbon is 11 times more solid than steel)." Likewise, the inner shell lining aids in absorbtion of the shockwave.
Helmet Retention Test
A vital factor in the safety of any helmet is it's retention, or ability to remain in place during a fall. GPA® helmets undergo a retention test to verify the harness strap system is not too long. To ensure the effectiveness of the GPA® harness system, the straps are "anchored by 4 rivets and use a self-locking buckle (Dual-Lock)."
Visor Test
In an effort to prevent nasal fractures caused by rigid visors during a fall, GPA® helmets are tested for visor flexibility, while "some models even propose a visor that will detach in a fall."
GPA Riding Helmets
Ultra-ventilated for superior comfort and a lightweight feel, the GPA® Speedair helmet guarantees safety, sturdiness and adventurous style. Originally developed in collaboration with leading endurance riders, the Speedair is inteded for the intensive demands of all equestrian sports. Cutting-edge technology provides total safety effectiveness.
A spherical heat-form injected composite outer shell features 2 large side air vents in the front and back, creating optimal dynamic ventilation. Three wide front vents offer axial ventilation and allow for "additional penetration of air to create a linear depression, which accelerates air flow and favors heat transfer." All generous air vents are covered by stainless steel mesh. Unique safety visor is designed to detach upon impact during a fall, reducing the risk of nasal injury. The SpeedAir is finished with a high-tech paint that looks and feels like fabric.
The high-tech, high-density polystyrene construction of the inner shell lining provides an ergonomic shape for real comfort and excellent helmet retention. Hygienic support and comfort are catered to through a removable, washable and interchangeable head liner. The head liner is made up of 4 independent parts (front, central, right and left) and consists of "aerated" foam covered with a high-tech antibacterial fabric.
